Darren's Wild Ride at 130mph

On Saturday morning July 15th 2006 in Toms River, NJ Darren Luhrs set out to break his own world speed record. His prior run took him to 121 miles per hour while throttling a 36' Nor-Tech catamaran called - Perfect Storm. During the 2003 record run, Darren set a benchmark speed and became an inspiration for all people who travel through life in a wheelchair. Darren lives in Woodcliff Lake, NJ and is a bit of a daredevil, as you can see by this web site. Darren has a passion for fast boats and has worked hard to achieve this milestone

Darren's friends carry him into the Nor-Tech's contoured front seats while the camera rolls for television coverage of his record setting run.

"It was a lot of fun, and I had a great time," said Darren, who has cerebral palsy. "The ride was unbelievable. It was very smooth." When asked what was next? Darren answered "I think I will take my trophy home and retire!"

No matter if Darren retires or not, he is an inspiration for everyone with or without a wheelchair!!
